It was ‘Restaurant Week’ three weeks ago in Richmond VA (RVA). Initially, I had planned to create this post to go along with that week, but life got in the way. I recently started a new job that requires me to work longer hours, of which I was adjusting to. I just thought to still go ahead and post for anyone out there who intends to visit Richmond VA.Whenever I visit a new city I always research good places to eat sometimes I tend to stop and ask.Hence that’s the reason why I decided to create a recommendation post for other travelers and people that love to explore and try out new places.Do keep it in my mind that the restaurants mentioned in this post are not the only good restaurants In RVA.They just happen to be one of the few good ones I have visited.
I have the pleasure of having my apartment right above this restaurant of which I truly did not expect, so its safe to say I know the menu quiet too well because it’s my place of escape whenever I don’t feel like cooking.Their Calamari is to die for its lightly breaded and very crisp it really is delicious so is their crab cakes, shrimp, and Grits.Sundays are crab leg days, they have specials on crab legs.If you are a seafood lover like me I would definitely recommend you visit Hard Shell Cafe.
A Cuban restaurant that serves the best Nachos you could ever think of.If You are in RVA and want to learn Salsa? P.S that’s if you are not blessed with two left feet like me.They have salsa from 8pm-12am on Thursdays for only $5.Havanna 59 is perfect for social gatherings and their Happy hour menu is pretty awesome.
Mama Jays Kitchen
The best soul food restaurant in RVA as voted for by many people including myself.Their Catfish has the perfect blend of seasoning and it’s always perfectly fried.Their mac and cheese and potato salad are amazing. The staff their are very friendly and welcoming the only thing I really don’t like is the wait time, last time I was there I waited for over 30 minutes just to be seated For anyone who minds the wait,I would suggest you try out the restaurant during the week because they are usually super busy in the evenings and on weekends.Mama Jays is definitely a must visit for someone who enjoys soul food.
Definitely, worth stopping by if you love sushi, I would recommend the Spicy girl Roll for anyone who loves fried or spicy sushi, their Carytown town Roll is also one of my favorites more like heaven to your taste buds.Their hot Sake is pretty good as well.Let me not forget to mention their prices are very reasonable, the setting is nothing extraordinary but the best part is you usually get seated as soon as you walk in.
I recently discovered this restaurant thanks to my amazing sister; The Ambience is calm and sophisticated. They are known to have the best fusion food.My date and I ordered The spicy Chorizo fried rice and the mango fried rice. The Mango fried rice is the perfect blend of sweet and salty, The spicy fried rice is not too exaggerated and you have the option to select mild or too spicy. The place is very neat as well.
So these are just a few of my good eats recommendations.Thank you for reading any comments and suggestions are welcome.
Stay lovely and blessed.
